LAHORE: Former Member National Assembly (MNA) of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) Marvi Memon will announce to join Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Sunday over the tsunami of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), putting an end to rumors of joining hands with Imran Khan.

According to the reports, Marvi Memon will make this announce following her meeting with PML-N President Nawaz Sharif in Raiwand on Sunday.

An SMS from Dr Asif Kirmani, Nawaz Sharif’s political secretary, states that Memon will meet the party chief in Raiwand tomorrow and will make the announcement at a press conference around 10:30am.

The decision brings an end to much speculation on which political party Marvi Memon will join after she quit PML-Q. There had been speculation that she might join Imran Khan’s PTI after she attended a couple of high-profile party events.

Memon was also present at the PTI rally in Ghotki where former foreign minister and ex-Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi had announced that he was joining the party.

It had been reported that after her resignation in June last year, PML-N and PTI had approached Memon to join their ranks.

Memon has been a vocal campaigner for human rights and development, both during her tenure as MNA and after her resignation, and she has taken up several high-profile cases, including the Airblue crash in 2010. She is a vociferous critic of the current government and its policies and tends to take a populist stance on issues.

According to the some media reports, Chaudhry brothers tried their best to woo Marvi Memon back to party but they efforts could not prove fruitful. Some reports claimed that the PML-N and PTI had approached Marvi Memon after she quitted her first party.

During her tenure as MNA and after her resignation, she has been a vocal campaigner for human rights and developments. She has taken many cases including Airblue crash and presentation of women protection bill in parliament.

At the same time, Memon vociferously criticized the incumbent and its policies and trends to take a democrat stance on problems.

On mircoblogging website, she commented, “Life is good! And now all the policies which are truly good for all of Pakistan will finally be implemented from a platform which is wise mature visionary”.

She further stated that there was no bigger honor in a party than a being a simple worker or activist.
