Kidnapped Dr. Aftab Qureshi, a cop, kidnapper killed in encounter

HYDERABAD: A renowned neuro surgeon of country Dr. Aftab Qureshi along with an ASI of Hyderabad police and one of kidnappers was killed in encounter between police and his kidnappers here on early Wednesday. Dr. Aftab Qureshi head of neuro surgery department of Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences was kidnapped from Karachi 18 days ago. According to details on receiving information about kidnapped doctor Aftab Qureshi, doctor Ashok and his mother Ms. Kamla also kidnapped from Karachi being at a Bunglow in Gulistan Sajjad in Qasimabad town of Hyderabad, Citizen Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) raided the said bunglow where an encounter took place between kidnappers and police in which doctor Aftab Qureshi, an ASI Asif Khan and a kidnapper were killed. The kidnapper killed in encounter was identified as Akhtar Siyal. The bunglow where kidnapped doctor Qurreshi, Dr. Ashok and his mother were kept is said to belonging to one Sarwar Noonari a brick kiln owner of Jhal Magsi presently living in Ayoub Goth Karachi. It is said that the kidnapped doctors were kept in the said bunglow two weeks back since their kidnapping from Karachi. DIG Hyderabad Sanaullah Abbasi has set up inquiry into the matter that why and how Hyderabad police remained unaware of the presence of kidnapped doctors in Hyderabad. DIG has also written a letter to district and session judge Hyderabad to order judicial inquiry into the matter. The medical and para medical employees have announced boycott of hospitals for three days to mourn death of senior doctor and to protest against failure of police to recover him.
