Rs1.3 bln interest free loan given under Punjab CM self employment scheme: Shahbaz Sharif
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that “Chief Minister’s Self-Employment Scheme” is a significant step towards making Pakistan a country as was envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal. He said, under this scheme, deserving persons are being provided interest-free loans, upto Rs.50 thousand, and, so far, interest-free loans, to the tune of one billion 30 crore rupees, have been given to 75 thousand families.
He said the target of providing interest-free loans to one and a half lakh families has been fixed, which would be achieved soon. He said, self-employment scheme is a revolutionary programme, which will bring about a great change in the society. He directed to review the possibility of increasing the limit of interest-free loans, from Rs.50 thousand, upwards.
He expressed these views, while presiding over a high-level meeting regarding “Chief Minister’s Self-Employment Scheme”. Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Special Assistant Zaeem Hussain Qadri also attended the special briefing about the programme on Thursday.
Addressing the meeting, Chief Minister said provision of interest-free loans, under self-employment scheme, is an important step towards eradication of unemployment in the province and added that provision of interest-free loans is a unique programme of its kind, throughout the world.
