Re-polls: NA-250 security plan finalized for May 19
KARACHI: Security plan was finalized for holding re-election on 43 polling stations in Karachi’s NA-250 constituency after reports of rigging surfaced and demands voiced by political hues for holding re-polls in the constituency.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) army would be deployed at the 43 polling stations in NA-250.
As per the security plan, in total 3500 security personnel would assume duties, while 22 policemen, eight to 10 Rangers officials and six to eight army personnel would be deployed at the each polling station.
The South Zone comprises of 40 polling stations, whereas three are located in East Zone.
Around 87510 voters are registered on the 43 polling stations of NA-250, who are expected to turn out and vote on May 19.
Around 300 policemen and 800 army and Rangers personnel would be deployed in the South Zone while 275 policemen and 100 army and Rangers soldiers would be deployed in the East Zone, ISPR added.
Meanwhile, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) after its Rabita Committee meeting, MQM leader Raza Haroon announced to boycott the re-election, maintaining that their earlier plea of holding re-election on all 180 polling stations of NA-250 was rejected.
