Palestinians boycotting Israeli goods

Several Palestinians plucked up their courage to rally in Gaza’s Saha market district against the sale of Israeli products beneath a scorching sun.

As part of the Palestinian Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, the protests drew members from the BDS National Committee (BNC), the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI), the Palestinian National Initiative (PNI) and the Palestinian NGO Network (PNGO).

Hanan Abunsasser, a recent university graduate, said: “As a Palestinian, I believe that boycott, in all its forms, is a primary tool in our struggle against the occupation.

“Our biggest supermarkets in Gaza are almost full of Israeli products. We as Palestinians should insist on alternative, and all Israeli products should be boycotted”.

After the rally, people marched through the busy alleys of the nearby markets, handing out fliers encouraging shoppers and merchants to boycott Israeli merchandise during the busy Ramadan season.
