Urticaria: relieve symptoms

It is, indeed, difficult to precisely identify the allergenic substance responsible for hives. Failing to address the cause, treatment therefore is to limit itching. Update on drug solutions or herbal. Cold, heat, intense physical activity, direct contact or “airborne” can cause urticaria allergic.

“Most often, the cause of hives is drug or food after eating shellfish or strawberries for example, rarely environmental” says Dr. Heloise Hatuel dermatologist.

Many situations that make complex decoding of the disease, and eight out of ten times, unfortunately, the cause(s)are never identified.

This is why the treatment of urticaria is symptomatic.

THE RIGHT MEDICATION HIVES

An antihistamine to be taken for a month in general, orally

Two classes of drugs exist: the first has a more sedative and anxiolytic (Atarax or Polaramine ), not the second.

“We can therefore associate if urticaria is anxiety,” says Dr. Hatuel. Have a burning desire to scratch at 4am can indeed be very disturbing and make it very, very “nervous” …

Creams as Eurax or Sedagel can soothe the itching, but their effect is limited.

NATURAL SOLUTIONS AGAINST HIVES

  • Solutions based nettleare traded on the forums, but Dr. Marie-Christine Delsaux, allergist, remains skeptical because their effectiveness has not been demonstrated.
  •  Essential oils: “those of chamomile and Roman chamomile soothe any itching problems ” observes Frances Couic-Mariner, Doctor of Pharmacy, which states that they will never replace a treatment prescribed by the doctor.

How? Dilute one drop in a knob of lotion and apply it on the skin.

GESTURES THAT HELP AGAINST ITCHING

To prevent scratching, Dr. Hatuelsuggest undress as late as possible.

“Itching revive the evening when there is no longer the barrier of clothing” , she says.

To reduce the friction areas and curb plates, prefer loose shapes and little tight, especially at the belt and bra, and a time to abandon backpacks and those worn on the shoulder.

“Water can soothe, but there is no particular except adopt hygiene not rub the skin too with his towel so as not to release more histamine,” says Dr. Hatuel.

Finally, Dr. Hatuel advised to avoid eating foods rich in histamine: fish (tuna, mackerel), cheese (Roquefort, Gruyere, Emmental), sauerkraut and chocolate; as well as those who promote the release, such as strawberries, pineapple or banana.
