Sheikh Rashid: Son of Dubai ruler dies of heart attack, 3-days national mourning declared

Dubai has declared three days of national mourning following the death of Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, eldest son of Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The prince died of a heart attack at the age of 33 on Saturday.

Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the eldest son of Dubai ruler, died of a heart attack at the age of 33 years, announced Saturday the official UAE news agency WAM. The Dubai authorities declared three days of national mourning after his death.

Known to be a sports enthusiast and avid horse racing, Sheikh Rashid was the eldest son of the Emir, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and his wife Sheikha Hind bint first Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum.

“I lost my best friend and my childhood companion, my dear brother Sheikh Rashid,” said Sheikh Hamdan, the crown prince.
