Foreign Secretary, Polish FM discuss cooperation in defence production, trade and Afghanistan situation


NEW YORK: Mr. Grzegorz Schetyna, Foreign Minister of Poland met Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry Monday on the sidelines of the 70th UNGA Session in New York and discussed cooperation in defence productiuon, trade and situation in Afghanistan.

The Polish Foreign Minister was briefed by the Foreign Secretary on Pakistan’s success in counter-terrorism as well as its economic recovery. Bilateral cooperation across a wide range of subjects was discussed, including defence production, trade and investment, and agriculture.

 Pakistan looked forward to early finalization of the Agreement on Defence Cooperation. A Polish delegation is expected to visit Pakistan later this year in this regard.

The Foreign Secretary also apprised the Polish leader on Pakistan’s perspective on peace and stability in Afghanistan and on our relations with India.

Poland appreciated Pakistan’s counter terrorism efforts and expressed interest in enhancing bilateral cooperation and trade between the two countries.

 Poland is an important EU member country for Pakistan. Both countries maintain cordial relations. The current level of bilateral trade, which stands at US$ 330 million can be further enhanced.
