New polio case surfaces in Peshawar, tally mounts to 17

PESHAWAR, Jan 30 (INP): A new case of polio was confirmed in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday, which raises the tally of children suffering from the deadly disease to 17.

Despite repeated vaccination drives in the country, cases of polio are emerging in the KP province. The virus was confirmed in 18-month-old Ayesha, daughter of Mursaleen residing at Charsadda Road, Peshawar.

During the first month of the year, 54 polio cases have been reported across the country.
