Fazaia Medical College marks World Cancer Day

ISLAMABAD, Feb 04 (INP): Community Medicine Department of Fazaia Medical College marked the World Cancer Day at Air University, Islamabad on Thursday.

Air Vice Marshal (Retd) Faaiz Amir, Vice Chancellor Air University was the chief guest of the ceremony. Major General (Retd) Professor Salman Ali, Principal Fazaia Medical College and Dr. Rukhsana Khan Head of Community Medicine Department were also present at the occasion.

Student of MBBS 1st year arranged various competitions including preparation of posters and placards regarding the prevention/ cure of this dreadful disease. The students also presented presentations under the theme “We Can; I Can”. The purpose of the activity was to create awareness among the students regarding importance of preventive measures and early diagnosis to beat the menace at the initial stages. The Vice Chancellor Air University and Principal Fazaia Medical College also addressed the audience. The chief guest awarded certificates and prizes among the students.

The faculty and students of Fazaia Medical College also participated in a walk to promote awareness about this disease. They were carrying placards and banners with slogans on Cancer prevention and its remedies. Cancer ratio is continuously rising in Pakistan. Pakistan has highest incidence of breast cancer in Asia.
