Three Indian soldiers killed in Kupwara encounter
SRINAGAR: Three Indian army soldiers were killed in an encounter between militants and security forces in a village in Kupwara district of Indian occupied Kashmir, which continued for the second day Saturday.
According to Indian media reporters a soldier was killed on Saturday morning while two security personnel, including an officer died Friday at hospital after being injured in the gunbattle, which broke out after police assisted by army launched a cordon and search operation at Marseri village in Chowkibal area following specific information about a group of militants hiding in a house.
Soon after the cordon was established, the search party were attacked by the hiding ultras. The security forces then returned fire, they said.
Four other soldiers were also injured.
