Ashish Nehra responded well to the surgery, says UK doctor

Ashish Nehra

MUMBAI: Indian pacer Ashish Nehra is doing “very well” after the surgery, according to Dr. Andrew Williams.

Speaking exclusively over his mobile from London on Friday evening, Dr. Williams said, “we performed surgery on Ashish Nehra on Tuesday and is doing fine”.

“The operation took place at Fortus Clinic and he was very co-operative during 1-hour long procedure”, Dr. added.

“He is a very nice man and told me how this injury happened (in the IPL matches)”.

Ashish Nehra sustained a high-grade tendon injury and was recommended (to visit this doctor) by team physio (Patrik Farhat.

“It will take at least 3-4 months to fully recover and of course, he will be able to play the game. He is a great bowler”, doctor added.

Ashish Nehra has been discharged from the hospital on Wednesday but he will be re-examined by the surgeon again after a few days.

“He will return to India and will be under the care of a physiotherapy”, Dr. Williams signed off.

Interestingly, former England fast bowlers Andrew Flintoff and Pakistan’s Shoaib Akhtar were being treated by Dr. Williams in the past.
