After 18th Amendment Sindh Govt reviewing curriculum to needs of province
HYDERABAD: Sindh Textbook Board has issued a clarification about the contents in its textbook about names of Bangladesh, Mukti Baheni and Hasina Wajid. The Sindh Textbook Board spokesperson was responding to a news item published in an Urdu daily which had mentioned the material about Bangladesh, MuktiBaheni and HasinaWajid in textbook Mutalaa Pakistan (Pakistan Studies) of XII class. The spokesperson said that the fact of the matter was that the said textbook was developed in 1988 by the Punjab Textbook Board under joint venture scheme. After the 18thamendment to the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Government of Sindh is developing and reviewing the existing curriculum according to the needs of the Province of Sindh. So far the Sindh Textbook Board has introduced new textbooks according to the new curriculum up to Class-VII. Since the Government of Sindh is in the process of reviewing the existing curriculum from Grades-VIII to XII, therefore, the new textbooks will be introduced in a phased manner based on new / revised curriculum.Meanwhile, the Sind Textbook Board has already initiated the review and updation of the said textbook (Pakistan Studies of Class-XII) as per the directions of the government on priority basis.
