Pakistani Superstars come together for the Green Day Festival
Pakistan’s 1st ever online music & shopping festival, The Green Day Festival, is an online event meant to encourage Pakistani youth to get online via a live concert and special deals. The Green Day Festival will feature a grand musical event featuring some of Pakistan’s biggest stars and will only be available to view online. The genesis for the idea came about when singers Fakhr-e-Alam and Haroon shared a flight from Karachi to Islamabad a few weeks ago. Both singers have started digital portals, EzDaam and Taazi respectively and they decided to collaborate and create the Green Day Festival to encourage more Pakistani youth to come online. They chose the name ‘Green Day’ because it relates to the Independence Day celebrations. The idea is to bring the 14thAugust Independence Day celebrations to the digital world and to create an interactive platform for Pakistani digital users and expand the current digital footprint in Pakistan. It will also help to draw traffic to Pakistani tech innovators & make a new cyber space where various aspects of digital business come together.
The concert will be broadcasted online from a secret location where there will be NO audience only online audiences will have access to it. Users watching the interactive concert can post live messages and comments on the screen which everyone can see. Stars performing live and participating include Fuzon, Hamayun Saeed, Haroon, Faisal Qureshi, Abbas Ali Khan, Fakhr-e-Alam, Maria Wasti, Nouman Javaid, Nadeem Jafri, cricketer Shoaib Malik, Aijaz Aslam and many others. It will be a 3 hour event starting at 10pm on the 13th of August and last till 1am on 14th of August and will only be visible at the GreenDay.pk website which was specially created for this event.
If the live concert and star appearances is not enough to encourage users to come online, there are also mind-blowing deals being offered by a number of online vendors including EzDaam, Easy Tickets, Taazi, Rozee and others.
Fakhr-e-Alam who is the CEO of EzDaam, Pakistan’s latest and fastest growing online retail store says “The Pakistani youth is responding really well to the online world. The future of internet & ecommerce is going to be huge in Pakistan. Like I and Haroon taking this GreenDay festival initiative we need more people to come forward and create opportunities that bring more online traffic. Pakistani telcos and banks also need to take giant steps and evolve fast to the needs of the Pakistani internet community. The world will never be the same. For now we promise you an exciting independence celebration and next year it will be bigger. It is a pleasure to be worling with my friend Haroon who has made Pakistan proud internationally with Burka avenger and then Taazi. Together we shall bring bigger online opportunities in the future.”
Haroon, the founder of Taazi, Pakistan’s most successful music app says “Fakhr is a dear friend and it’s been so much fun putting this project together. The idea is to encourage more Pakistani youth to come online by offering fun online only activities such as live music and entertainment.
