Chris Broad appointed match-referee for Nidahas Trophy

MUMBAI: Former England batsman Chris Broad will officiate as a match-referee in the Nidahas Trophy (March 6-18), it is learnt here.

According to the highly placed sources, the ICC has appointed the former opening batsman Broad to be in charge of all seven matches to be played between host country Sri Lanka, India and Bangladesh.

Broad has so far officiated in 461 international matches comprising 93 Tests, 294 ODIs, and 74 T-20 matches.

Sri Lanka’s all three umpires on ICC’s international panel ( Ruchira Palliyaguruge, Ranmore Martinez and Ravindra Wimalasiri) will officiate as field and TV umpires.

SLC will also give opportunity to four other umpires- Hemantha Boteju, Ravindra Kottahachchi, Lyndon Hannibal and Deepal Gunawardena to act as reserve umpires during the tournament.
