Nidahas Trophy to have all three deputising captains

Shakib Al Hasan hand injury

MUMBAI: Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan has returned to Dhaka after consulting the doctors and physios in Thailand.

“We are starting his physiotherapy treatment from Saturday”, the BCB’s medical man Dr. Debashish Chaudhary, speaking exclusively over telephone from Dhaka, said on Friday.

The 30-year-old all rounder sustained the finger injury during recent home series against Sri Lanka.

“The player will continue the physio treatment for 5-7 days and will monitor if there is any improvement or positive development. If not, we’ll then think about alternatives”.

“We can tell only after few days of treatment on his playing in the Nidahas Trophy”, Dr. Chaudhary added.

Bangladesh will play its first Nidahas Trophy match on 8th March and when Mahmudullah goes for toss with India’s Rohit Sharma, all three participating teams would have stand-in captains.

Chandimal is deputizing for injured Angelo Mathews and Rohit Shamra for resting Virat Kohli.
