Here’s why watching television is bad for your health

Adults and perhaps even more young people spend a lot of time watching television during the coronavirus lockdown. However, a US study has just shown that every hour spent watching television increases by 2.1% the risk of type 2 diabetes.

According to the journal Diabetologia cited by, observation was conducted on a sample of 3,000 people over a period of 3 years. All were overweight and had a high blood sugar. At the beginning of the experiment, they went 2:20 a day watching TV.

The test group was divided in two. In the first part, a prescribed anti-diabetic drug to people. In the second group: no drug but 150 minutes of exercise a week, a healthier diet, and 22 minutes of TV less.

The result is clear. In the group of people treated only with medication, diabetes fell by 31%. In the second group, it reduced by 58%.

Finally, the year (partly replacing the TV) and a healthy diet are more profitable than drugs.
