British actress Natasha Parry, 84, wife of Peter Brook, is dead
British actress Natasha Parry, 84, wife of Peter Brook, has died while vacationing in La Baule (Loire Atlantique), announced her daughter Irina Brook on Friday.
Born in London in 1930, married in 1951 to English director (90 years), which has often led, Natasha Parry could also boast of a rich and independent career.
Natasha Parry was up on stage for the first time at the age of twelve. She has performed in numerous productions by Peter Brook, including “King Lear” in 1953 (adapted for American television, where she starred opposite gave Orson Welles), “The Cherry Orchard” with Michel Piccoli in 1981, “Tchin Tchin” with Marcello Mastroianni (1984) or “Oh, the beautiful days!” (1995).
But Natasha Parry has also worked with other great directors like Andreas Voutsinas, Maurice Béjart, Declan Donnellan and Deborah Warner.
In film, she starred in “Mr. Ripois” René Clément (1954), “Romeo and Juliet” by Franco Zeffirelli (1968), “Oh God Lovely War” by Richard Attenborough (1969), “Meetings with Remarkable Men” (Peter Brook, 1979), “The prodigal daughter” (Jacques Doillon, 1981) and recently in “The taste of blueberries” by Thomas de Thier, Michel Piccoli (2014).
Natasha Parry was the mother of Irina Brook, actress and director, to head the Nice National Drama Centre since 2014, and director Simon Brook.
