HYDERABAD: Syed Zakir Ali Shah Chairman Sindh Text Book Board Jamshoro has asked officers of education department the need on proper mechanism in collaboration of monitoring teams of board to ensure 100 % free distribution of text books to government schools at all levels. He was addressing a seminar in this connection at Mirpurkhas where district education officers, taluka education officers, supervisors and head masters of primary and secondary schools of region attended the seminar. Earlier such seminars have also been organized at Karachi and Hyderabad while same are scheduled for Sukkur and Larkana divisions also. He warned board officers/officials, local support units and headmasters that in case of mismanagement action will be taken against the officers/officials responsible for it.
Talking with media after seminar and answering their questions chairman of STBB Syed Zakir Ali Shah informed that Government of Sindh has initiated reforms to improve access to and the quality of basic education in the province after 18th amendment to the Constitution of Pakistan. These interventions are improving the efficiency of public spending on education, better access to and delivery of education through school consolidation and school clustering; and improved quality of education through curriculum development, textbooks development and distribution, teachers training and implementation of student assessment.
According to the School Standard and Curriculum Act, 2015, the Sindh Textbook Board shall be strengthened as an effective regulating authority to improve efficiency in managing authorship, production, copyrights, printing and distribution of textbooks and learning materials in a timely manner.
In addition, the Sindh Textbook Board after posting of a cadre officer BPS-20, Syed Zakir Ali Shah on 6.7.2015 has established an IT Database Centre by hiring the services of a company through outsource basis duly approved by the Board of Governors’ of STBB. Through Bio-metric system, the expected enrolment from Katchi class to X, is 4.8 million. The IT personnel visited the schools in all districts and got the enrolment data after doing the bio-metric of concerned Headmasters, Taluka Education Officer, duly countersigned by the concerned DEO and also holding the seminars at divisional headquarters. The distribution/dispatch of free textbooks will also be made through bio-metric system to all government schools, adopted schools, SEF schools etc. Bio-metric system on daily attendance of employees, scanning of all files/paper with bar code system and installation of CCV cameras on Godowns at Jamshoro and Landhi Karachi have been introduced. At the time of dispatching the free textbooks, Tracking system of vehicles from Godowns of STBB to Warehoues of Taluka/Town levels will also be made.
