CHARSADDA: A platoon of Frontier Corps (FC) on Wednesday taken charge as guard of Bacha Khan University (BKU) which had reopened on Monday after 26 days aftermath of terror attack that claimed at least 21 lives.
Administration has gained services of the Frontier Corps to better construct a foolproof security plan for future. The contingent has been deployed at university’s boundaries. An ex-colonel of the army is supposed to monitor the personnel and keep a check on the arrangements always.
Another eight elite force personnel have been handed over permanent duties at the premises.
After the attack on the university on January 20, Chief Minister (CM) Pervez Khattak had demanded the federation to turn back FC contingents to the province to counter untoward incidents.
It was not the first time that the provincial government had voiced need of extra security measures to protect government installments and lives of the locals. CM Khattak had demanded the federal government several times earlier.
Police and other law enforcement agencies were lauded by the country’s leadership for taking control of the situation without unnecessary delay on January 20 after militants had entered the university taking advantage of dense fog in the early hours.
