Hanif Mohammad undergoes CT scan and biopsy tests, hoping no recurrence of cancer

HANIF MOHAMMAD WITH GRANDSON

MUMBAI: Former Pakistan captain Hanif Mohammad, 82, underwent CT scan for some spot shown in his lungs and hoping no cancerous disease resurfaces again.

The CT scan was done in Karachi last week, according to his London-based daughter Seema.

Speaking exclusively over her mobile on Wednesday night, she said, “my dad had CT scan done last week (in Karachi) for regular check up and some spot had shown in lungs. He went for biopsy (on Wednesday) and the report is awaited next week. We hope it is just infection and nothing more…”.

Hanif Mohammad, who is known as the first Little Master, underwent cancer-related surgery in London in July 2013, and it was followed by six cycles of chemotherapy.

Hanif’s wife, by the way, is in London to be with the daughter.

“New Hanif” born in the family

The Master-class batsman, however, is overjoyed having seen “new arrival” in the family.

“My brother (Shoaib Mohammad) had a baby boy last week. Now they all are overjoyed”, the daughter added.

Hanif Mohammad had felt the tragedy of Shoaib’s son (Ayyan) died of brain tumor in 2013.

“My dad is extremely happy with the birth of a new grand-son”, she added.

Later, speaking exclusively after returning from the biopsy tests, Hanif Mohammad said, “I saw my grand-son last week and hold him in my two arms”.

“He was kicking his legs and moving hands in such a way that he was playing the game of cricket”.

“We have not named the boy yet but the name will be very much similar to Ayyan”, the grand-father signed off.
