MUMBAI: The Indian cricket board has hired the services of retired army-man (Major) Manvinder Bali as a security manager for India’s tour of Zimbabwe, it is learnt here.
According to the highly placed sources in the BCCI, Pune-based Bali’s name was recommended by the ACSU (Anti-corruption and Security Unit).
Bali has been working (on contract basis) with the G4S (Secure Solutions India Pvt. Ltd), a worldwide company, whose services were procured during last World T20 in India and recently concluded IPL. His name was selected on the basis of his recent performance in the IPL.
The team for Zimbabwe is scheduled is scheduled to leave from Mumbai on 8th June. All the players and the members of the support staff have been directed to report in Mumbai on June 7.

Team India’s new appointee Faiz Fazal returned to Nagpur from England on Thursday.

The 30-year-old left-handed opening batsman, who is also a right-arm medium pace bowler, went to play North East Premier league for Hetton Lyons Cricket Club in England, where he had heard the news about his selection (through his father Yakub Fazal) in the Indian team for the tour of Zimbabwe.
“After his Zimbabwe tour, he will decide whether to leave for England again to play league matches till September”, Faiz’s father, Yakub Fazal, speaking exclusively from Nagpur said.
“He has been invited to join the club “any time” by the authorities”, the dad added.
Faiz Fazal, however, will have to obtain the BCCI’s NOC as he has become a member of the India team now. For his first recent phase with the Club, he was required to obtain Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) permission.
Match officials
Richie Richardson will be the ICC match referee for the 3 ODIs’ and 3 T20 matches. England’s Ian Gould, along with Zimbabwe’s Russel Tiffin, Jeremiah Maitibiri and Langton Rusere will be the umpires for the matches.
The first ODI will be played on June 11.
