MUMBAI: Former Pakistani captain Hanif Mohammad, who has been admitted to Karachi’s Aga Khan Hospital for a chest infection, is feeling much better according to his son and ex-selector Shoaib Mohammad.

Speaking exclusively from Karachi, he said, “my dad is much better and in fact, he talked to tall of us to-day and was in a jovial mood. Perhaps he may be discharged from the hospital in a day or two”.

The 82-year-old original little master Hanif Mohammad had cancer surgery in 2013 and since then had chemotherapy sessions.

“The next line of treatment will be decided once the CT scans are done and we are waiting for his oncologist Dr. Adnan Jabbar to come as he is not in the country. Dr. Jabbar is looking after my dad for quite some time, and he will decide dad’s date of discharge from the hospital”.

“There were quite a few phone calls inquiring about dad’s health and the legendary squash player Jehangir Khan and Mohammad Yousuf came over to see him on Wednesday.”

“The renowned hockey player Islauddin called up from the US, and there are other players like Salahuddin Ahmed the ex-chief selector, Mohammad Yousuf, Rashid Latid, Salman Butt, Ijaz Fakih expressed their concerns. Javed Miandad called thrice to inquire about the health”.

“Hopefully, our dad will be alright very soon,” Shoaib signed off.

Incidentally, Hanif Mohammad was very happy to talk to his London-based daughter (Seema) on Wednesday.

“I spoke to him on Wednesday. He is feeling much better. He has asked me to come to Pakistan and celebrate Eid with him”, Seema, speaking from London, said.

“Yes, most likely I shall spend Eid holidays with him in Karachi,” she said.
