PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan spends “considerable long-time” to console Dalmiya family

MUMBAI: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar Khan spent “considerable long time” at the residence of late Jagmohan Dalmiya on Thursday.

“He paid a visit at my home this morning (Thursday) when I was at Ghats to perform certain rituals for my dad but I joined in the discussions later on”, Avishek Dalmiya, the son of Jagmohan Dalmiya, speaking exclusively over telephone from Kolkata, said.

“He spent quite long time before leaving for the airport”, he added.

The PCB chief came specially to console the Dalmiya family and had no agenda to meet any BCCI officials and discuss the cricketing ties between the two ntions.

Jagmohan Dalmiya, 75, died due to the stomach hemorrhage in Kolkata hospital on Sptember 20.

Dalmiya family has been receiving several condolence messages from all over the world. However, Shaharyar Khan was the first president of the the ICC’s Full Member to come from Pakistan and console the family.

It may however, be noted here that during Pakistan’s tour of India in 2007, their captain then, Shoaib Malik went to Virender Sehwag’s residence to pay his condolences to Sehwag’s late father who had died during that period.

“No, we didn’t discuss anything on cricket. I am keen to complete the ritual formalities before I take up on cricket”, Avishek added.

The Shradh Ceremony of late Dalmiya is scheduled on Friday at their residence.

Avishek family may be invited to witness the PSK (Pakistan Super League) to be held in UAE early next year.
