PSHD sends protective gear to five hospitals

LAHORE: The Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department on Sunday sent a huge cache of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to five major hospitals of the Lahore to combat Coronavirus (COVID-19).

This was confirmed by PSHD Secretary Captain (R) Muhammad Usman. He said that PSHD sent 6,447 gowns; 142,644 masks; 126,700 gloves; 2,590 goggles; 2,306 face shields; 16,884 suits; 8,767 head caps and 8,036 shoe covers to Children Hospital, Lahore General Hospital, Mayo Hospital, Jinnah Hospital and Punjab Institute of Cardiology Hospital as per their requirements. He said that the consignment of protective gear has been sponsored by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) while the department is also purchasing necessary equipment as per the SOPs.

The secretary further said that the National Institute of Health (NIH), Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and NDMA are providing full assistance to fight COVID-19. He said that medical gear for doctors and health workers have available in all hospitals of Punjab. Meanwhile, the corona helpline 1033 is functional round-the-clock to contact with districts about the protective gears. Chief Minister of Punjab and Chief Secretary Punjab evaluate the PPE situation on a daily basis, he stated.
