HYDERABAD: To commemorate World Population Day an event was held here including a walk and seminar at the press club here. A rally was taken from Old Campus to the press club. Rally and seminar were attended by officers and staff of the population welfare department, family planning department, members of civil society, and journalists.
Addressing the seminar district population officer Bakhat Ali Siyal said it was necessary to bring control to the population which was increasing due to which resources were getting huge burden causing a shortage of facilities which might be difficult to face in future. He said with a normal population not only the country but Sindh, its cities, towns, and villages will remain self-sufficient in food and other needs required for a happy life.
He said the increase in population was just like an atom bomb due to which all issues connected with living increase with the burden on every walk of life including education, health causing suffering to not only state but also people. He said we shall have to think twice about how to sustain it. He said along with the health department the role of media was essential to contain population growth.
He also urged teachers, media, and renowned persons need to carry out awareness campaigns so as to bring control to fast increasing population. Zohaib Kaka district manager Merry Stoops Society and others also addressed the rally and seminar.
