LAHORE: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Lahore, released its official 9th Class Result Gazette on Wednesday, recording an overall pass percentage of 46.51 percent — a figure that leaves more than half of the city’s SSC Part-I cohort short of promotion.
According to the official result gazette, 280,676 candidates appeared in the SSC Part-I First Annual Examination, of whom 130,543 passed. The board had received 287,597 applications, and conducted written papers from April 17 to May 8, 2026. The result covers regular and private candidates across Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura and Nankana Sahib, and the 1,799-page gazette includes individual results, institution-wise records, subject statistics and group-wise performance.
The gender gap is the gazette’s most striking finding. Among 150,882 female candidates who appeared, 82,410 passed — a pass rate of 54.62 percent. Among 129,794 male candidates, 48,133 passed, for a rate of 37.08 percent.
The 17.5-point differential is substantial and consistent with a pattern documented across Punjab boards in recent years, where female candidates have steadily outperformed male candidates at the secondary level.
Performance diverged sharply by stream. The Science Group accounted for 203,844 candidates, of whom 111,802 passed — a rate of 54.85 percent. In the Humanities or Arts Group, 70,761 students appeared and only 16,228 passed, producing a pass percentage of 22.93 percent. The Technical Group recorded 2,513 passes from 6,071 candidates, a success rate of 41.39 percent.
The Arts Group figure is the number educationists will scrutinise hardest. Fewer than one in four Humanities candidates cleared the examination.
The gazette also separates institutional performance. Among regular candidates studying at government institutions, 101,079 appeared and 40,409 passed, for a pass percentage of 39.98 percent. A total of 180,264 regular students appeared overall.
A sub-40 percent pass rate in government schools, against a citywide average of 46.51 percent, points to a persistent gap between public and private institutional outcomes across the Lahore division.
Candidates can access individual results through BISE Lahore’s official portal using roll number or name. Students who did not clear one or more papers will appear in the supplementary examination; the board typically notifies the schedule and fee deadline within weeks of the annual gazette. Rechecking applications carry a prescribed fee and a fixed window from the announcement date.
