LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has expressed gratitude over successful operations against terrorists conducted during Operation Radd-ul-Fitna III in Balochistan, according to an official statement issued from her office.
The Chief Minister paid tribute to the security forces for killing 21 terrorists in Nok Kachah, in Chagai district, and at Ziarat Cross in Pishin, the statement said.
The two locations sit in different parts of the province and reflect the geographic spread of the operation. Chagai lies in Balochistan’s far west along the Afghan and Iranian frontiers, a sparsely populated belt where movement across unmarked terrain has long complicated interdiction. Pishin, further north-east and closer to Quetta, sits on routes connecting the provincial capital toward the Chaman corridor.
Maryam Nawaz also paid tribute to six personnel, including Customs officers, who embraced martyrdom while performing their duties.
The inclusion of Customs officials among those killed points to the overlap between counter-terrorism operations and enforcement against smuggling networks in the border districts, where revenue staff operate in the same threat environment as uniformed security personnel but without comparable protective resources.
The Chief Minister lauded the sacrifices of the security forces in the fight against terrorism and acknowledged their services for the protection of the country, the statement said.
Statements of this kind from a provincial chief executive outside the affected province are a standing feature of Pakistan’s political convention around security operations, functioning as expressions of federal solidarity rather than operational commentary. They also carry a domestic dimension for Punjab, which contributes a substantial share of recruitment to the armed forces and civil armed forces deployed in Balochistan, meaning casualty announcements frequently reach households in the province.
Operation Radd-ul-Fitna III is the latest in a numbered series of operations conducted in Balochistan. The provincial government’s statement did not provide further operational detail, dates of engagement, or the identities of the personnel killed, and The Lahore Times has not independently verified the figures cited.
Pays Tribute to Martyred CCD Inspector Adnan Ghayoor
CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif has paid tribute to Crime Control Department (CCD) Inspector Adnan Ghayoor, who embraced martyrdom in Rawalpindi, according to an official statement issued from the Chief Minister’s Office.
The Chief Minister expressed her heartfelt condolences and sympathies with the bereaved family of the martyred inspector, the statement said.
