Businesswomen are precious asset of our society: Senator


ISLAMABAD: Senator Najma Hameed on Thursday said government was striving hard to provide opportunities to women for promotion of their businesses which is imperative for the national development. She said that we need to change attitude and behaviour of the society towards working as well as businesswomen if we want to excel and make Pakistan a developed nation. Speaking to the newly elected office bearers of Islamabad Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IWCCI), she said that women are precious asset of our society. Najma Hameed highlighted various steps taken up by the government towards women empowerment. She said that Islam gives respectable status and rights to the women which was not awarded before, adding that women are working in every field successfully contributing in the prosperity of the country. Earlier, fifth Annual General Meeting of IWCCI was held which endorsed elections of Mumtaz Akhtar as President, Samina Akhtar as Senior Vice President and Sajida Anwar as Vice President. Founder president IWCCI Samina Fazil, outgoing president Dr. Zakia Hashmi and many others were also present on the occasion.Samina and Zakia said that federal and provincial government are trying to serve women through different empowerment initiatives which is laudable. Chamber has always encouraged activities that contribute positively towards the betterment of women entrepreneurs, they said.
