China dismisses Indian media’s allegations about Da Cui Yun ship

Lijian Zhao

BEIJING, Mar. 5 (INP): The equipment on the Da Cui Yun cargo ship is nothing but a heat treatment furnace shell system produced by a private Chinese enterprise,” said Zhao Lijian, spokesperson of China’s Foreign Ministry.

At press conference here Thursday, he dismissed the reports of Indian media that claimed the ship carried missile-like machinery.

The merchant vessel Da Cui Yun started its journey from Jiangyin port in China in January 17. It was detained at Kandla port in Gujarat on February 3 on the excuse that the ship has loaded industrial autoclaves that could be used in the manufacture of ballistic missiles.

Indian authorities alleged that Indian national security departments could notify the UN the proliferation contact between China and Pakistan by invoking relevant UN Security Council Bills.

“The equipment is neither military supplies nor dual-use item for non-proliferation and export control. The merchant ship and the consignor have in advance declared truthfully to the administrative department of India. And there is no concealment or false declaration,” Zhao elaborated.

He reiterated that China, as a responsible big power, has strictly fulfilled its international non-proliferation obligations and relevant international commitments, reports China Economic Net.
