WASHINGTON: US Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr and the Department of Health and Human Services’ inspector general, T. March Bell, have signed a pledge launched by Vice President JD Vance to fight fraud in federal programmes, according to their public statements.
“Every dollar stolen through fraud takes resources away from Americans in need. We will find it, stop it, and hold those responsible accountable,” Kennedy said in a social media post.
Bell said protecting beneficiaries and combating fraud were at the heart of the inspector general’s mission.
President Donald Trump appointed Vance to lead a Task Force to Eliminate Fraud targeting suspected abuse in Medicaid, medical equipment claims and the H-1B visa programme, among others.
