LAHORE: Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari inaugurated the summer camp exhibition at Alhamra on Wednesday, opening a show built entirely from work produced by young artists during the camp.

The exhibition brings together 85 artworks by 40 young artists, spanning drawing, painting and a range of other mediums. The participants used the show to display both technical range and a clear point of view — something the minister singled out in her remarks.

Among the pieces on display was a portrait of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, created by the young artists and presented as a centrepiece of the exhibition.

Bokhari met the participating artists, walked through their work and praised what she saw. Their output across different mediums, she said, was genuinely impressive, and their creative capacity and artistic vision deserved recognition.

The minister also met the camp’s class teachers, Usman Khalid and Fatima Khan, congratulating them on the training and mentorship they had provided. She then distributed certificates among the summer camp participants.

Information Secretary Syed Tahir Raza Hamdani and Alhamra Executive Director Muhammad Nawaz Gondal attended the ceremony along with other officials.

For Lahore’s arts calendar, the show is a useful marker: Alhamra’s summer programming has increasingly become a pipeline for young painters who have few other institutional platforms in the city.
