Larkana fire victims’ children fall ill after expired relief milk

LARKANA: About 10 children of fire victims living in a relief camp fainted and were hospitalised on Thursday after consuming expired milk packs and juices provided by the Larkana district administration a few days earlier, reported The Lahore Times.

According to details, several children from Muhalla Rasool Abad, Larkana, including Shakeela, 5, Umaira, 8, Sanam, 9, Munwar, 5, Mujahid, 2, Majid, 3, and others, fainted and were shifted to Chandka Medical College Hospital, Larkana. They had survived a fire that broke out a few days ago and burnt all 50 katcha houses.

The children were living in miserable conditions in the relief camp on Ratodero Road. They fell unconscious and suffered from diarrhoea after drinking the spoiled, out-of-date milk packs and juices. They were rushed to a PPHI camp set up in their area and were later shifted to the CMC Children Hospital, Larkana.

It is pertinent to mention that a fire erupted at their katcha houses a few days ago and burnt all their huts. The victims are now living in relief camps with few basic facilities. Responsible officials of the Larkana district administration visited the area and distributed expired milk packs and juices among the victims, particularly children, sources told The Lahore Times.
