Australia Wins World Cup No. 5

Australia Wins World Cup No. 5

Australia won the World Cup, the fifth time in front of a capacity packed MCG Stadium in Melbourne. The retiring one day Captain Michael Clarke scored 74 valuable runs. Steven Smith scored 56 runs and carried the bat. David Warner scored 45 runs.

New Zealand won the toss, and elected to bat first. Winning the toss did not bring them luck. They started poorly, the in-form dynamic Captain Brendon MCcullum was dismissed for naught by Mitchell Starc. What a fine delivery. Australian pacers set the Stage for the grand victory. They bowled out Kiwis for only 183 Runs. They were clinical and on target. Mitchell Starc 2/20, Mitchell Johnson 3/30, and James Faulkner 3/36 were outstanding. They wrecked the spine of the Kiwis. James Faulkner changed the complexion of the game by his deadly bowling.

Australian batsmen chased the target easily in 33 overs. They did very well in the crucial innings. After Ross Taylor the game was over for the Kiwis. Grant Elliot determinedly played and scored 83 runs. No one else came through. James Faulkner was declared the man of the match. Good choice. Mitchell Starc was declared the player of the world cup 2015.

Michael Clarke summed it up nicely, I am on the moon. Wearing a black band he dedicated the World Cup to Phil Hughes, who died this year when he was hit by a nasty ball. A great tribute to Aussie Player.

Celebrations began, when Michael lifted the coveted trophy. Congratulations to team Australia the best team in the world.
