The grandchild son of Nelson Mandela was accused of raping a 15-year-old girl in South Africa.
The young man, aged 24, who cannot be named until he recorded his plea, is accused of raping a teenage girl in the toilets of a restaurant in Johannesburg.
The family of the alleged victim stated that the former wife of Nelson Mandela, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, had sent his bodyguard to try to dissuade them from prosecution.
Family members Mandela, the daughter of the former president, Makaziwe Mandela, were present in court during a brief hearing.
The Bail release request of the young man was postponed until Tuesday, which means it cannot be named by then. He has been detained since his arrest on Saturday.
