PTI files application seeking deployment of army in NA-122
LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday filed an application to District Returning Officer (DRO) seeking deployment of army for NA-122 election.
The application has been forwarded on behalf of PTI’s candidate in NA-122, Aleem Khan.
The plea states that PTI’s MPA Mian Aslam Iqbal’s residence was attacked twice while a local body (LB) candidate of the party was murdered in Garhi Shahu. It is likely that the opposing candidate would resort to coercive methods and force to bag votes, the application states.
PTI has requested the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to take help of Pakistan Army in the matter. Earlier, party chairman Imran Khan had also demanded army’s deployment on the polling day.
