ANF seizes huge quantity of drugs, impounds two vehicles, arrests seven culprits

ISLAMABAD, Feb 01 (INP): The Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) in its drive against drug trafficking carried out six operations at Rawalpindi, Lahore, Peshawar and Karachi, which led to seizure of 37.5 Kg Heroin, 4000 Psychotropic Tablets and 14.5 Kg Hashish. The ANF also arrested seven offenders involved in drug trafficking and impounded two vehicles during the operations. Most of the recovered heroin was being transported abroad. The value of seized drug is Rs 275 million in international market.

According to details, the ANF Rawalpindi on pursuance of information took into custody a car near Kohinoor Mills bus stop, GT Road Rawalpindi and recovered 10 Kg heroin concealed in concealed in secret cavities of the vehicle. Two drug carriers on board identified as Irfan Ullah and Rouman Durrani, both residents of Peshawar were detained.

The ANF Lahore Airport team intercepted a UK bound shipment at air cargo office of Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore and recovered 6.5 kg heroin concealed inside the cartons containing garments. After initial investigations, two individuals namely Uzair Khurshid and Aman Ullah residents of the provincial capital were arrested.

The ANF Lahore during search of a truck near Sher Shah Toll Plaza, Multan, recovered 11.7 kg hashish from roof cabin of the truck. An occupant of the vehicle named Habib Ullah was also nabbed.

The ANF Peshawar apprehended an accused namely Mari Khel, a resident of Khyber Agency near Motorway Toll Plaza, Peshawar, while he was travelling to Rawalpindi from Peshawar in a passenger van and recovered 2.8kg hashish from his personal possession.

The ANF Karachi Seaport team during an intelligence led operation intercepted a container at Pakistan International Container Terminal, Seaport Karachi, and seized 21 kg heroin tactfully concealed inside cartons containing Mehndi. The container was being dispatched to Sri Lanka.

The ANF Karachi Airport team apprehended a passenger namely Shabir Hussain, a resident of metropolis city at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi. The search of his luggage led to seizure 4000 Xanax tablets (1.17 Kg), which were concealed in a thermos. The accused was to fly for Sharjah by Air Arabia Flight No G9 548.

Separate cases in all incidents have been registered at respective ANF Police Stations and further investigation was in progress.
