CTD finalizes Shuja Khanzada murder case challan
RAWALPINDI: Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of the Punjab Police has finalized a challan against the accused involved in the attack on former provincial Home Minister Shuja Khanzada.
The challan would be dispatched to the Prosecutor General’s office in Lahore for final approval. At least 11 accused have been declared culprits in the challan, out of whom one Qasim Muawia was arrested by the police and is currently in Adila Jail. Four accused namely Muhammad Fayyaz, Sadaqat Ali, Amjad and Sadaam have been killed in an encounter with police.
Six accused – Muhammad Naiz, Qari Sohail, Imran, Sitar, Owais Usman and Zaheer Ahmed – have been declared proclaimed offenders. Qadri Sohail has also been termed master mind of the attack.
The suicide bomber, who had attacked Khanzada at his Shadi Khan village outhouse in Attock was identified as Maaz who came there in the guise of a guest on August 16 last year. Khanzada was holding a meeting with locals when the suicide bomber blew himself up, killing the minister and 16 others as the roof of the house had also collapsed.
After final approval the challan, would be submitted in the court in the next hearing.
