LAHORE: A domestic dispute over money turned deadly in the Kotli Peer Abdul Rehman locality of Harbanspura on Wednesday, after a man allegedly attacked and killed his own mother and a neighbour, leaving two young girls injured in the chaos that followed.

According to a spokesperson for the Edhi Foundation, the victims have been identified as 70-year-old Kaneez Fatima and 52-year-old Sultana Imran. Police say the accused, 38-year-old Aurangzeb, attacked his mother with a screwdriver after she refused to give him money. When neighbour Sultana Imran rushed in to intervene after hearing the commotion, she too was fatally attacked.

Two of the neighbour’s daughters — 23-year-old Aqsa and 13-year-old Arifa — were also injured in the assault and were rushed to Services Hospital for emergency treatment. The bodies of both deceased women have been shifted to the morgue for post-mortem examination. Harbanspura police reached the scene soon after the incident was reported and arrested the accused on the spot. A Crime Scene Investigation Unit team has since collected evidence from the location. Police say the injured girls are receiving medical care, and that the case is being investigated from multiple angles, with further legal action expected as more evidence comes to light.
