Abdullah Tahir Murder Case: Victim’s Own Driver Detained, Phone Seized

LAHORE: Investigators have made significant headway in the murder of PTI leader Abdullah Tahir, detaining the victim’s own driver, Asghar, and taking his mobile phone into custody.

According to police sources, the interrogation produced a striking disclosure: Asghar had allegedly been passing Abdullah Tahir’s location and movements to a female TikToker. The driver and the woman were subsequently questioned face to face.

Sources said police have also detained the suspect accused of conducting reconnaissance at the scene before the attack, along with the individuals who arranged the rental of the vehicle used in the killing.

In total, five suspects — including women — accused of facilitating the murder are currently in custody. The main shooter and two accomplices remain at large.

Police have begun a fresh round of questioning of those detained, and operations to arrest the primary shooters are continuing.

The case has drawn attention in Lahore both for the political profile of the victim and for the alleged use of a trusted employee to track his movements — a pattern investigators say is increasingly common in targeted attacks.
