Hunt continues to trace Shahadat Hossain and his wife: the duo’s frequent changing locations making Police task difficult
MUMBAI: Bangladesh police will seek help from the detectives to trace the whereabouts of Shahadat Hossain and his wife. The 30-year-old right handed pace bowler Shahadat and his wife (Nittyo) have been hiding ever since being alleged to have tortured the maid servant.
“Our hunt for them is on. Still we are not able to find their whereabouts”, Munir Islam, the spokesman and detective himself attached with the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said over telephone from Dhaka.
“Both are understood to be in Dhaka but they are changing the locations and have made our task difficult, but we are hopeful. The police have been successful while dealing with the bigger case than this and it will not impossible to trace them”, another high ranking police official, said.
“We have also approached the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) but they are also clueless”, Munir Islam added.
The police seem to have not been getting as much support and co-operation as they had expected from the BCB.
“The best option for Shahadat is to surrender before the court or police and then face the trial”, Munir Islam added.
“The search-warrant in this case is not required. If he doesn’t surrender within a stipulated time, the charge sheet will be framed to begin with the trial”.
“Uniformed police is investigating the case but now the police detectives will begin the hunt. In Bangladesh we (the police party) have no provision to hire the private detectives”, Munir Islam concluded.
Interestingly, Shahadat Hossain’s case is no different to India’s former Test cricketer Vinod Kambli, who and his wife, also are alleged to have tortured their maid servant in Mumbai very recently.
