SUP takes out rally against shortage of water: Terms PPP as enemy of poor

SUP takes out rally against shortage of water

HYDERABAD: Sindh United Party took out a rally from Old Campus to press club against the acute shortage of water in Sindh since last many days. The rally was led by Roshan Buriro senior vice president of SUP. Addressing a rally at the press club, he said Pakistan People’s Party has joined the government at cost of the interests of Sindh.

On one side PPP was sharing power at the center while on the other it was not getting a share of Indus water from the federal government. He said PPP was responsible for the shortage of water in Sindh as it was overlooking Punjab’s theft of Indus water by releasing full water to the Chashma Jhelum link canal and Thal canal. He said such an attempt of PPP was treacherous to Sindh. He said water was not available in the canals of Sindh for not only cultivation but also for drinking.

On the other hand, he said those landlords sitting with the government were getting water through illegal means for their lands at the cost of poor peasants. He said more than 70% of people of Sindh living in villages and small towns were undergoing thirst adding that PPP has remained in power in  Sindh since the last 30 years but has failed to even provide drinking water to people. Apart from it PPP government has never tried to end poverty and thirst nor has such efforts been part of their manifesto. He added that the Sindh government has failed to put up a case for judicious distribution of water in almost all meetings on the subject including in CCI.

Roshan Buriro said the federal minister of water resources belongs to Sindh and PPP but alas he was defending Punjab as if its representative.
