Pioneer Conservationist Jane Goodall Awarded 2020 Tang Prize in Sustainable Development

TAIPEI, TAIWAN - Media OutReach - 18 June 2020 - Dr.
Jane Goodall, DBE, founder of the Jane Goodall Institute, UN Messenger of Peace
and one of the most influential primatologists today, was announced winner of
the 2020 Tang Prize in Sustainable Development today (June 18), "for her
ground-breaking discovery in primatology that redefines human-animal
relationship and for her lifelong unparalleled dedication to the conservation
of Earth environment." Her work laid a strong foundation for the world's march
towards a sustainable future.

Redefining
human-animal relationship

Dr. Goodall's passion for animals prompted
her to accept the proposal from the celebrated anthropologist Louis Leakey to
collect data on chimpanzees in Tanzania. She started her research in 1960 when
she was only 26. Her time in Africa's jungles led to a series of remarkable
discoveries of their behaviors, including making and using tools for probing
into termite tunnels, killing and eating monkeys, begging with outstretched
hands, patting, embracing, and many more. Each chimp has its unique character,
a mind of its own and its own emotional inclination. They can develop a lasting
relationship between family members and engage in brutal warfare with one
another. These findings injected brand new information into the field of
primatology, rocked the scientific world and redefined the relationship between
humans and animals. Dr. Leakey therefore proclaimed: "Now we must redefine
'tool,' redefine 'man,' or accept chimpanzees as humans." And Harvard's Stephen
Jay Gould would call Dr. Goodall's observation "one of the great achievements
of twentieth-century scholarship."

Not only did she uncover many mysteries
surrounding chimpanzee communities and correct many longstanding misconceptions
prevailing in academic until then. Through her unparalleled knowledge, she also
helped to guide the U.S. National Institutes of Health through a pivotal change
in the U.S. biomedical research: ending invasive research on chimpanzees,
preventing them from being abused, giving them adequate living space, and
strategically relocating them to federal sanctuaries for retirement.

From
science to action, advocating nature and wildlife conservation

Her fieldwork on chimpanzees, originally
scheduled to take only 5 years, has been going on for more than 60 years, the
longest running wildlife study on the planet at the moment. In 1977, she
established the Jane Goodall Institute to promote wildlife conservation and
educate people on environmental protection. It has more than 30 offices around
the world now, including one in Taiwan, which was set up in 1998.

After
attending the first "Understanding Chimpanzees" conference in Chicago in 1986,
Dr. Goodall became alert to the global scale of the destruction of chimpanzees'
habitats and realized that no matter how shy and reserved she was innately, it
was time to come forward. When in a conference venue, she can just be a
scientist. Outside of it, she has to assume the persona of an activist for
wildlife conservation and environmental education. From then on, she became
more vocal about the rights chimpanzees should be given.

Now 86 years
old and claiming that she doesn't believe in jet lag, Dr. Goodall still travels
an average of 300 days a year to speak to audience around the world about the
threats posed to chimpanzees and the environment and urge them to take
necessary action. Even the Covid-19 pandemic cannot stop her from working. On
the contrary, she became even busier with projects aiming to enhance
sustainable development and safeguard our environment.

Devoted
to education to give people hope

In 1991, Dr.
Goodall established the Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots Program, further
committing herself to environmental education and charity work. So far, more
than 65 countries have taken up this worthy cause, helping form more than
10,000 Roots & Shoots groups around the world to teach young people how to
think outside the box, and to adopt a more sustainable way of life. The goal is
to foster a new generation of eco-conscious citizens to take care of our earth.

The Jane Goodall Institute launched the
"TACARE Program" in 1994 for the region around the Gombe National Park. This
community-centered conservation and development project, through close
collaboration with local inhabitants, aims to protect the forests and halt
biodiversity loss by alleviating poverty with strategies such as introducing
sustainable farming methods, maintaining tree nurseries, starting a
micro-credit program, and providing health facilities as well as scholarships
for girls.

Over the years, Dr. Goodall has attracted a
growing number of young followers, to whom she in turn gave most of her time by
delivering talks all over the world to call for more emphasis on environmental
protection. She once said: "My job is to give people hope." People may wonder
whether she really has hope for the future, but she noted that "I maintain hope
partly because everywhere you go, there are young people who are dedicated,
passionate and begging to make a change. You can't help but be inspired by
them."

The invaluable contributions Dr. Goodall made in areas such as
chimpanzee research and environmental education have seen her recognized by
numerous prestigious awards and honors, including her appointment as the United
Nations' Messenger of Peace in 2002 and Dame of the British Empire in 2004,
which was presented to her by HRH Prince Charles. Therefore, the Tang Prize
Selection Committee decided to name her the 2020 Tang Prize Laureate in
Sustainable Development, in order to commend the crucial role she has been
performing throughout her life, in promoting sustainable development in the
international arena.

Established by Taiwanese entrepreneur Dr. Samuel Yin, the biannual
Tang Prize consists of four categories, namely Sustainable Development,
Biopharmaceutical Science, Sinology and Rule of Law, with NT$ 40 million
(approx. US$1.3 million) in cash prize and a research grant of NT$ 10 million
(approx.US$0.33 million) allocated to each category. It aims to promote the
interaction and cooperation between culture and technology so as to find a 21st

AIA Singapore employees will receive S$1,000 as part of the company’s work from home assistance to support them during COVID-19

AIA is also opening up more pathways for jobseekers and fresh graduates through various recruitment campaigns and the SGUnited Traineeships Programme

SINGAPORE - Media
OutReach
 - 17 June 2020 - AIA
Singapore
today announced that all employees will receive S$1,000
as part of the company's focus on its people, to help its staff who are working
remotely from home during the ongoing COVID-19 global pandemic, to ensure that
they can get the equipment they need to further enhance their home office setup.
In addition, this move will help its staff cushion any financial impact that
their family could be facing and ride through this challenging time. The lump sum
is available to all permanent and contract staff and will be paid out to more
than 1,000 employees. AIA Singapore recognises and appreciates the continued commitment
and resilience of its employees in keeping the company going during this time
and wants to ensure that they are well taken care of.

In embracing new norms, AIA Singapore is working to extend
flexible work from home arrangements for all staff as part of a permanent
arrangement even after COVID-19 restrictions are lifted, to provide them with
more flexibility and encourage better work life integration. Employees will be
able to choose which days of the week that they would like to work from home, customising
their time and working arrangements around their individual needs.

In addition, AIA Singapore will also be granting an additional
day-off for employees, to encourage them to use this time to focus on their
personal wellbeing as one of the company's initiatives to inspire people to
lead healthier, longer and better lives.

Mr Patrick Teow, Chief Executive Officer of AIA Singapore,
said: "We are people-centric at AIA Singapore and place a high priority on our
employees' wellbeing as they are the force behind AIA's success. We are in this
together and it is even more so during these unprecedented times that we want
to assure them of our emphasis to preserve jobs and commitment to invest in
their continuous personal and professional development. There is currently no
plan for any salary cuts. Being a leading life insurer, there is no better time
for us to demonstrate leadership by providing peace of mind during times when
people need us most. We will remain strong for our customers, to help them plan
against life events and to cushion the blow during this challenging time. We
would like to convey our deepest appreciation to our employees and thank them
for their continual commitment and dedication in stepping up to support our
company and our customers."

As part of AIA Singapore's continuous commitment to upskill
its employees, AIA Singapore partnered with Hyper Island to co-design a digital
mindset cultural programme -- Digital Ei8ht -- to proactively engage with its
entire employee base to embrace a culture of experimentation and innovation as
part of its efforts to stay on the pulse of business and digital
transformation. This is in addition to the available learning platform,
LinkedIn Learning, where all employees can access to content such as Customer
Experience, Customer Relationship Management, Digital and Tech and Personal
Effectiveness.

AIA employees have been
embracing new norms, using Microsoft Teams for their virtual townhalls, daily
meetings and interactions as well as Workplace for Facebook to connect
and check-in on each other's wellbeing. To bring employees together virtually
to keep healthy in the mind, body and soul, AIA Singapore also rolled out
virtual sessions to staff on mental wellness, work from home ergonomics and
fitness etc. These extended benefits are the latest in a series of measures
introduced by AIA Singapore to support its employees during this challenging
time.

Ms Wong Sze Keed, CEO-Designate and Chief Distribution
Officer of AIA Singapore, said: "We have always endeavoured to be more than just
an insurer, in good times and bad; we want to be a partner through life's
journey. That promise starts with our employees. They make AIA Singapore, they define
our culture and are the driving force of our organisation, now more than ever.
Their holistic wellbeing is of upmost importance and, regardless of the
situation or what role they play, we are committed to improving their overall
wellbeing and providing them with assurance when they need it most."

Walton International Group’s Strategic Relationships with Public-Listed Homebuilders in the U.S. Benefit Investors

- Asian Investors To Reap Returns on 2 Exits

SINGAPORE - Media OutReach - 17 June 2020 - The Walton Group of Companies ("Walton")
continues to implement its strategy of accelerating exit activity for the
benefit of its investors, and investors are now seeing the results.

Walton's strategy
allows a homebuilder to acquire land in phases with the bulk of land payments
deferred to the timing of home sales.  In
return, the homebuilder will take on the entitlement and land development cost.  For Walton and its investors, they will see
their investment cash flowing over the course of the development.

This strategy has
resulted in two recent exit offers for its investors -- Poplin Heights, a
residential use property in Union County, North Carolina and Anderson, a
residential mixed-use property in Hays Country, Texas.  Both projects are in the U.S.A. and both offers
have been approved by the underlying landowners.

Poplin Heights

A large national
homebuilder in the United States has executed an option to purchase the entire
Poplin Heights property in Union County, North Carolina, in a phase-by-phase
take-down structure with deferred payment terms.  The offer was negotiated by Walton in an
effort to maximise revenues for its investors.
Walton performed and obtained the entitlement approvals resulting in the
current zoning of the property.  The plot
consists of 94.16 acres of land (owned by the investors) which is planned for
development into 247 residential lots.

The approved offer terms
are expected to generate a return of 1.3x to the Walton investors in the form
of cash flow as the homebuilder builds and sells homes. The homebuilder expects
to make their first closing and break ground in 2021 with home sales projected
to begin in 2022.

Anderson

The same homebuilder
has also executed an option to purchase 78.04 acres of land slated for
residential development of up to 450 lots within the 82.24 acre Anderson property
in Hays County, Texas. Walton will continue to undertake limited entitlement
activities to support the homebuilder's development plans for the property.

For this project,
investors are anticipated to earn a return of 2.14 times in the form of
cashflow as homes are sold. The homebuilder plans to make the first closing and
break ground in Q1 2021 with home sales projected from Q1 2022.

Bill Doherty, CEO of
the Walton Group of Companies said: "Walton's new strategy has given
homebuilders the flexibility to take land inventory down in phases. Given the
volatility in recent months, this flexibility is valued more than ever. As a
result, we are seeing more interest in our U.S. land assets than ever
before.  We are pleased that we have executed over
US$150 million of option agreements with homebuilders in the U.S. over the past
3 months.  By working with well-known
homebuilders to expedite exits, our Asian investors, including our Singapore
investors are able to realise a return on their investments such as the Poplin
Heights and Anderson properties."

For over 40 years,
Walton has researched, planned and structured pre-development land investments
located in major growth corridors throughout the U.S. and Canada.  With the new strategies in place, it has
created new opportunities for investors and homebuilders.

Linkflow Capital: Singapore SMEs Access to Financing Improved in 2019

Research conducted by Linkflow Capital shows that more SMEs continue to see improved access to financing in 2019

SINGAPORE - Media Outreach - 16 June 2020 - In their annual SME
financing research conducted by Linkflow Capital, SMEs continue to see improved
access to financing in 2019.

According to Linkflow Capital, up to 39% of SMEs gained
access to financing in 2019. This figure has continued to improve since the
company started tracking data from 2017, from 19% in 2017 to 34% in 2018.

Research data and statistics are derived from Linkflow
Capital's SME loan comparison portal launched in 2017. For this latest survey,
data was generated from over 2436 unique users for the period January to
December 2019.

"In 2019, our dataset suggests a slight improvement for
SMEs attempting to secure business financing, with up to 39% of our portal
users eligible indicatively for financing, up from 34% in 2018." said Ben Teo,
a spokesperson for Linkflow Capital.

"2019 was a challenging year with the looming backdrop of a
US-China trade war and sluggish GDP growth of 0.7% in 2019, the slowest in a
decade. Despite these conditions, we did not see major adverse impact in credit
tightening for SME financing, although overall business loan growth dipped
slightly from 2018."

Consistent from the data in 2017 and 2018, the major reason
why most SMEs are not able to access financing continues to be a combination of
low revenue and poor cash flow.

Presently, the elephant in the room will obviously be
Covid-19 and more specifically, its impact on SME financing availability.
Although this research is predominantly based on 2019's data, flash figures for
the period January to May 2020 are included as well to form a basis how 1st
half 2020 might pan out for the SME financing landscape amidst the backdrop of
Covid-19.

For detailed figures and data on Linkflow Capital's research
survey, kindly visit their webpage at https://smeloan.sg/blog/2019-sme-finance-accessibility-survey.

As we cross the halfway mark of 2020, the world is fraught
with rising uncertainties with risks of deglobalization and political friction
between major world economies.

Singapore's GDP forecast for 2020 have been revised to
-0.7% to -0.4%, possibly the worst showing since independence.

The Government has
provided much support and succor for SMEs to cushion Covid-19's economic damage,
including financing schemes to support SME lending. It is now critical for
businesses to pivot and adapt agilely to sustain and grow through this
challenging phase.
