ISLAMABAD: Petroleum dealers have issued a 72-hour ultimatum to the government over its failure to fulfil promises made to the sector.

Dealers said they will be unable to continue their businesses if the government does not accept their demands within that window.

The ultimatum comes as the goods transport sector enters a fifth day of strike action over the same underlying grievance — the shift to daily revision of petroleum product prices, which dealers say has made margins unmanageable.

The All Pakistan Dealers Association had already rejected the daily pricing decision when it was announced and signalled it would consider a protest plan.

A dealer strike on top of the transporters’ stoppage would compound fuel supply disruption in the middle of the Independence Day holidays.
