Solomon Systech takes part in the special exhibition organized by the Hong Kong Museum of History and the FHKI

HONG KONG, CHINA - Media OutReach - 12 June 2020 - Solomon Systech Limited will participate in the "Striving and Transforming
-- The History of Hong Kong Industry" exhibition in Hong Kong, showcasing about
1,200 sets of classic Hong Kong-made products over the past century.  Jointly organized by the Hong Kong Museum of
History ("Museum") and the Federation of Hong Kong Industries ("FHKI"), the
exhibition is part of the FHKI 60th anniversary promotion campaign.
The classic Hong Kong-made products ranging from Solomon Systech ICs, Solar pressure
lantern, Mino transistor radio to Equity clock will be showcased at Special
Exhibition Gallery, Hong Kong Museum of History and running for more than two
months from 17 June to 24 August, 2020.

Background of the exhibition

Year 2020 is the 60th anniversary of the FHKI, the exhibition
has collated about 1,200 sets of items from companies and museums to show how
industrialists strived for success and pay generous tribute to the working
class for its contribution to Hong Kong's industrial development in the past
decades.

Having the fact that many factories were relocated to the Mainland China
in recent years, Hong Kong, still, remains a base for decision making, product
design and promotion in addition to grooming industry talents.  The exhibition provides a valuable
opportunity for the city to explore new possibilities in the high-tech and
creative industries.

Highlights of our involvement in
exhibition

Solomon Systech Limited is one of the few participating companies in the
semiconductor industry being invited to be taken part in this meaningful and
territory-wide exhibition. The seven
items provided by our company to the exhibition include various forms and
shapes of ICs, an enlarged drawing of a mobile phone display panel IC design, a
mask used to produce ICs, a mobile phone and an electronic shelf label using electronic
paper ("e-paper") technology.

Being a pioneer of MIPI solutions for display, Solomon Systech Limited has
picked its IC, SSD2861, which is the lowest power consumption MIPI 8-lane
transmitter in the world, to be one of the items loaned for this
exhibition.   Besides, one should not miss some other
exhibits related to Solomon Systech e-paper technology.  Unlike conventional "emissive
display", light from a backlight is projected through the display towards
your eyes, e-paper displays are referred to as "reflective displays". The
ambient light from the environment is reflected from the surface of the display
back to your eyes. As with any reflective surface, the more ambient light, the
brighter the display looks. This may make users more comfortable to read and
provide a wider viewing angle than most light-emitting displays.  In short, the advantages of e-paper include
high visibility and low energy consumption.  Power is only needed when turning to a new image
of e-paper that extends the battery life in the product. The aforesaid wide
array of critical knowhow enables us to stay forefront of the industry in
response to fulfilling market needs promptly and maintaining our competitive
edges.

Raymond Wang, Chief Executive Officer of Solomon Systech (International)
Limited (the listed parent company of Solomon Systech Limited) said, "Walking together with Hong Kong and the FHKI for years, we believe
technology will help shape a better world.
Hence, we endeavor to put effort in enriching and extending our
intellectual property portfolio, so as to develop cutting-edge technologies
applicable to various kinds of display solutions.  We also hope to engage all walks of life to visit
this exhibition and get inspiration by the development of our company dedicated
to the transformation of the high-tech industry."

Complimentary gifts

The standard admission fee is HK$10 per visitor (free for Museum Pass
holders). Unlock an exclusive benefit if you visit the exhibition in the
designated period.  Complimentary
promotion items will be given away by the Museum to all visitors of the
exhibition on a first-come, first-served basis and will be available while
stock lasts.

Hugill & Ip continues to push its D&I agenda with the private screening of “Suk Suk”

HONG KONG, CHINA - Media
OutReach
 - 12 June 2020 - Since
its early days, Hugill & Ip has
been extremely committed to promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace
and in the community. The firm wholeheartedly encourages every form of
diversity,
as we believe in its power to add significant value to the workplace and the
community as a whole. Diverse
teams make better decisions, and in turn build a better society.

The firm
is engaged in spreading awareness for the need of anti-discrimination policies
and legislation, as well as actively participating in the fight against stigma
based on different grounds, hence the choice to support "Suk Suk 叔叔" has been a natural one. Biases against
sexual orientation, gender identity and even age are still rather common in
Hong Kong, both in the workplace and in society overall.

Suk Suk is a 2019 Hong
Kong drama film written and
directed by Ray Yeung. It presents the
story of two gay married men in their twilight years, but who are still in the
closet. One day Pak - a 70 year old taxi driver who refuses to retire - goes to
a neighbourhood park where he meets Hoi, a retired single father who's a few
years younger than him. Despite years of societal and personal pressure, they
are proud of the families they have created through hard work and
determination. Yet, in that brief initial encounter, something is unleashed in
them which had been suppressed for so many years. As both men recount and
recall their personal histories, they also contemplate a possible future
together. Suk Suk studies the subtle day-to-day moments of two
men as they struggle between conventional
expectations and personal desires. The film also touches on the need for
retirement homes where people of different sexual orientations can feel
welcome, a reference to a very current topic of discussion in Hong Kong.

The film has won several awards both
in Hong Kong and overseas. Hong Kong filmmaker Ray Yeung's latest work has
quickly become a critics' favourite since its premier at the Busan Film Festival
last year. It was voted best film by the Hong Kong Film Critics
Society and Tai Po was voted best actor. It also gained five nominations,
including best film, at the Golden Horse Film Awards in Taiwan last November.
The film was screened at the Berlin International Film Festival, before
having a general release in Hong Kong a few weeks ago. The film recently earned
nine nominations for this year's Hong Kong Film Awards: including
best film, best director and best screenplay for Yeung and best actor for Tai
Po. The film will be distributed by Strand Releasing in North America under the
title "Twilight's Kiss" and will reach cinemas in late Autumn 2020,
kicking off in New York with Film Forum.

After the
private screening at Pacific Place, Adam Hugill, Ray Yeung and Travis Kong answered questions from the audience about societal and
legal issues, as well as about filmmaking and changing attitudes towards sexual
orientation and age-related issues.

Adam Hugill mentioned: "There are four
anti-discrimination ordinances in Hong Kong: together the ordinances protect
against discrimination on the grounds of sex, pregnancy, marital status, family
status, disability and race. Although there has been mounting discussion
regarding the introduction of specific legislation to prohibit discrimination
on the grounds of sexual orientation, and all public surveys have displayed a
changing of attitude favouring such legislation, no meaningful steps have been
taken by the Hong Kong Government since the introduction of the entirely
voluntary Code of Practice: Against Discrimination in Employment on the Grounds
of Sexual Orientation
20 years ago. No plan to introduce such legislation
is in the pipeline. All progress in prohibiting discrimination on the grounds
of sexual orientation has been made in various Court of Appeal and Court of
Final Appeal rulings. Twenty years ago, the Government published another
entirely voluntary Code of Practice: Practical Guidelines for
Employers on Eliminating Age Discrimination in Employment
. However,
legislation banning discrimination on the grounds of age is equally unlikely to
be passed by the Government, despite it being supported by over 70% of Hong
Kong's population".

Ray Yeung commented: "Today in Hong
Kong the LGBT community is generally more open and the society is more
accepting of LGBT rights. However, older gay men have not been able to
enjoy these changes due to their adherence to strict traditional cultural
values and close family ties."

The film director continued saying:
"Many of these older gay men, who had abandoned their own natures and
desires to fulfil their duties as sons continuing the family name, have
established close and rewarding blood ties to the families they created.
For these men, the love from their families is their life's ultimate goal
and achievement. Therefore to 'come out' as an older man is a betrayal of
their lives' work and self-sacrifice. For those who dared to come out, their experience in the gay
scene was not always welcoming. There are hardly any establishments which cater
for their needs. Some elderly men whom I had interviewed told me that they were
turned away when they wanted to visit a gay sauna. As we try to fight for equality,
we should also pay attention to the inequality within our community where
ageism, sexism and racism are common."

Travis Kong added: "There are an estimated 50,000 to 110,000 older LGBT+ people living
in Hong Kong. This is not a small number. Whilst the LGBT community as a whole
is quite visible, older LGBT+ tend to remain hidden for two main reasons.
First, they are reluctant to "come out," as they been hiding their sexual
orientation since their youth. Second, many of them engaged in a heterosexual
marriage when young, making it very hard to come out to family members. What
this population shares, however, is the loneliness of being old, single and a
sexual minority; the coming out dilemma (particularly challenging for those who
are married with children or grandchildren); the longing for same-sex intimacy
or to maintain their closeted same-sex relationship; the fear of getting sick;
and the frustration of being excluded from the youth-oriented, class-based LGBT
community. It is thus important to educate the general public, social service providers,
legal professionals and LGBT community to acknowledge their existence and be
aware of their specific needs and problems to work towards a more caring,
inclusive and tolerant society."

They also exchanged views on these
subjects a few days earlier in Hugill & Ip's office, as featured in the
video below.

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LE8NrcnN7w&w=420&h=315]

The film is distributed by Golden
Scene Co. Limited
, a company
renowned for its diverse line-up of US hits and local productions. Winnie
Tsang, the managing director of Golden Scene, is a veteran in film acquisition,
distribution and marketing who established Golden Scene in 1998.

Bespoke Legal Solutions

Hugill & Ip's view is long term
and endeavours to build lasting client relationships based on trust,
professionalism and discretion. The firm is deeply committed to diversity,
inclusion and equity, as well as being involved in many social responsibility
activities in support of causes Hugill & Ip feels passionate about.

A young independent law firm, yet its
lawyers bring decades of experience providing bespoke legal advice and
exceptional client service to individuals, families, entrepreneurs and
businesses, in Hong Kong and internationally.

Ray Yeung

Born and bred in Hong Kong, Yeung
continued his studies in London where he earned a law degree and eventually
became a solicitor. Yet his passion for filmmaking got stronger with time and
he started reading about different cultures, particularly when he was in the
UK. Yeung finally decided to pursue a master's degree in filmmaking from
Columbia University in 2008. He followed that by making a series of short
films: Doggy... Doggy (2009); the quasi-coming-of-age tale Derek
& Lucas
 (2011); stale relationship story Entwine (2012);
and Paper Wrap Fire (2015). Yeung's second feature, the New
York-shot Front Cover (2015), showed a director taking
considerable creative steps while cleaving closely to subjects near and dear to
his heart.

Travis Kong

Dr. Travis S.K. Kong is a leading sociologist of sexuality with a specialization
in Chinese homosexuality and masculinity, prostitution in Hong Kong and China,
social impacts of HIV/AIDS, and transnational Chinese sexuality. He is
Associate Professor of Sociology and Programme Director of Media, Culture and
Creative Cities at the University of Hong Kong, where he teaches gender,
sexuality, and media and cultural studies. "Suk Suk" was
inspired by his book Oral History of Older Gay Men in Hong Kong
(2014), which documents the life stories of 12 elderly gay men, some of whom
Yeung met, inspiring him to write and direct the film. The book has been
translated into English in 2019 named Oral Histories of Older Gay Men in Hong Kong:
Unspoken but Unforgotten

Breaking the Suspense, 2020 Tang Prize Laureates to Be Announced Soon

TAIPEI, TAIWAN - Media
OutReach
 - 11 June 2020 - Established in Taiwan,
the Tang Prize has grown to be one of the most prominent awards in the world.
From June 18 to 21, the 2020 Tang Prize laureates will be announced in 4 press
conferences starting at 10 a.m. Taipei time (GMT+8) each day and livestreamed
on its official website: https://www.tang-prize.org/en/first.php. While previous laureates are mainly from America, Europe and Japan, the
diversity of the countries where the latest winners are located demonstrates
how the prize has transcended geographical, cultural, racial, language or
religious barriers. Some of them have achieved international recognition.
Others are fervid activists striving for their noble ideals. What brings them
together is the simple belief that what is virtuous is what benefits us all.
Therefore, their pursuit of this virtue, not always attracting great publicity
but always worthy of great admiration, perfectly epitomizes the theme of the
2020 Tang Prize: for a world of virtue.

The havoc wreaked by Covid-19 has woken us up to the most urgent,
existential crises mankind faces in the 21st century, all of them inextricably
linked with the prize's 4 award categories, namely Sustainable Development,
Biopharmaceutical Science, Sinology and Rule of Law. The appearance of a new
virus has prompted us to seek sustainable ways to develop a harmonious
relationship with Mother Nature; progress made in biopharmaceutical research
indicates when we can have a vaccine to fundamentally stymie the spread of the
virus; Sinology opens the door for us to China's rich history and literature,
where the concept of the golden mean that guides our philosophy of life is
enshrined; Rule of Law alerts us to the inadequacy of our mechanism of
international cooperation and urges us to reflect on the conflicts seen between
different political cultures and between different institutional arrangements.

Named after the Tang dynasty, China's own golden era, the Tang Prize wants
to highlight the values the dynasty is characteristic of, a tolerant attitude
toward cultural heterogeneity fostered by incorporating the West into the East,
and it is only through the integration of mankind's achievements in sustainable
development, biopharmaceutical science, Sinology and the rule of law can
lasting peace prevail in a community, a society, a country and benefit any
individual living on the planet. As early as 30 years ago, Dr. Samuel Ying,
founder of the Tang Prize and chairman of the Ruentex Group, has started to
invest in education and has foreseen the importance of this integration. For
this reason, he established the Tang Prize Foundation in 2012 and created these
four categories, in the hope that those who have made invaluable contributions
to the world, especially experts and scholars who dedicated their life to
finding solutions to all kinds of complicated problems, can be duly
rewarded.

Previous Tang Prize laureates come from a variety of backgrounds: in
Sustainable Development, the prize has been awarded to the godmother of
sustainable development, Gro Harlem Brundtland (Norway) in 2014, the godfather
of energy efficiency, Arthur H. Rosenfeld (US) in 2016, and eminent global
warming scientists James E. Hansen (US) and Veerabhadran Ramanathan (US) in
2018. The medal in Biopharmaceutical Science went to two authorities on cancer
immunotherapy, James P. Allison (US) and Tasuku Honjo (Japan) in 2014, three
pioneers in CRISPR gene-editing technology Emmanuelle Charpentier (France),
Jennifer A. Doudna (US), and Feng Zhang (US) in 2016, and three leading lights
in targeted cancer therapy, Tony Hunter (UK/US), Brian Druker (US) and John
Mendelsohn (US) in 2018. Inaugural Sinology laureate was Yin-shih Yu (US).
"Confucius of the West", William Theodore de Bary (US) won the 2016 Sinology
prize, which was then accepted by doyen of Tang poetry Stephen Owen (US) and
acclaimed expert on China's socioeconomic history Yoshinobu Shiba (Japan) in
2018. Justice Albie Sachs (South Africa) was awarded the inaugural Tang Prize
in Rule of Law. Sachs presented the award to former UN Special Representative
for International Migration, Madam Justice Louse Arbour (Canada) in 2016, and
again to world-renowned legal philosopher Joseph Raz (UK) in 2018. While their
lifelong devotion to their specialist fields won them a Tang Prize, the deep
insights they offered to the world have also enabled us to examine critical
contemporary issues from a more comprehensive point of view. Which outstanding
individual or organization will be named the 2020 Tang Prize laureates? Hold
your breath and you won't be disappointed.

Each Tang Prize laureates receives NT$40 million (approx. US$1.33 million)
cash prize, NT$10 million (approx. US$0.33 million) research grant, a medal
made of 99.99% pure gold and designed by the Japanese designer Fukasawa Naoto,
and a diploma. The 2020 Tang Prize week will begin on September 20.

About Tang Prize

Dr. Samuel Yin, chairman of Ruentex Group, founded the
Tang Prize in December of 2012 as an extension of the supreme value his family
placed on education. Harkening back to the golden age of the Tang Dynasty in
Chinese history, the Tang Prize seeks to be an inspiring force for people
working in all corners of the world. For more information on the Tang Prize and

Rockwell Automation and PTC Deliver Industry-first Enhancements to FactoryTalk InnovationSuite™, powered by PTC for Simplifying and Accelerating Digital Transformation

Two companies team to deliver integration capabilities to simplify OT/IT integration for the most critical OT data sources to bring the Connected Enterprise to life for customers

MILWAUKEE, U.S. - Media OutReach - 11 June 2020 - Rockwell Automation,
Inc.

(NYSE: ROK) and PTC (NASDAQ: PTC) today
announced strategic enhancements to industry leading FactoryTalk
InnovationSuite, powered by PTC, to serve the needs of a very fast growing,
dynamic industrial digital transformation market. Launched in 2018, the
FactoryTalk InnovationSuite, powered by PTC offering has already seen rapid customer
adoption, helping achieve significant improvements in operational efficiency,
reduction in unplanned downtime and improved quality.

The latest enhancements
center around improved OT/IT integration, enabling customers to contextualize
real-time operational data from critical sources such as plant floor devices,
control platforms, and time series-based Historians and Manufacturing Execution
Systems (MES). By automatically integrating the contextualized data and
underlying data models into Industrial IoT/Analytics platforms like the PTC ThingWorx® platform, clients are
able to simplify, automate, and accelerate OT/IT convergence.

These integration capabilities reduce the data cleansing, aggregation
and contextualization work by up to 80%, which accelerates digital
transformation deployment. This approach also maintains, enriches and propagates
OT data models into IT systems. These data models and the underlying
information can then be leveraged in developing richer analytic insights and
predictive outcomes at the enterprise level.

"At the core of achieving
strong financial results through digital transformation is the ability to turn
data into actionable insights. These new capabilities will allow customers to achieve
faster time to value and increased ROI's," said Arvind Rao, Director, Product
Management for Information Systems at Rockwell Automation. "We're very pleased
to achieve yet another milestone in this joint innovation journey with PTC and
be recognized as leaders in modular and integrated capabilities spanning
Industrial IoT, analytics, MES, and augmented reality."

"We're delighted with
the deeper integration capabilities of the FactoryTalk InnovationSuite, powered
by PTC, but more importantly how we're applying the technology to high value
digital use cases that unlock double digit impact for our customers," said Howard
Heppelmann, Divisional Vice President and General Manager, Connected Operations
at PTC. "We look forward to continuing our strategic relationship with Rockwell
Automation to help customers accelerate and simplify their connected enterprise
journey."

Amazon to Host First Singapore Seller Summit to Help Local Businesses Seize Growth Opportunities Online

The complimentary online event aims to bring together the local seller community and empower them to develop strategies and skills to expand their businesses and reach more customers locally and globally

SINGAPORE - Media OutReach - June 11, 2020 - (NASDAQ:AMZN) - Amazon will be hosting its first summit for small and medium businesses (SMBs) in Singapore, Amazon Singapore Online Seller Summit 2020, on June 19, 2020, 9am -- 1pm SGT. The event will see industry experts from Amazon, Enterprise Singapore and OCBC speak about the future of the retail landscape in Singapore, opportunities for business growth and supporting programs available to SMBs. The complimentary online event is open to local SMBs interested in growing their business online with Amazon.

With e-commerce revenues in Singapore expected to grow at an annual rate of 12.1% from 2020 to 2024[1], businesses must consider a digital sales channel to be a critical component of their strategy, and one that will enable them to achieve growth in the long run. Selling with Amazon offers SMBs an opportunity to expand their local customer base and lets them scale and reach a global audience through 16 other Amazon marketplaces worldwide. The Amazon Singapore Online Seller Summit aims to bring together the local seller community and comes at a vital time as Singapore's economy gradually reopens. Sellers can connect with each other, learn about upcoming programmes and develop the skills needed to expand their businesses to reach more customers with Amazon.

"With the first Amazon Seller Summit in Singapore, we remain steadfast in our commitment to empowering local retailers and enabling them to seize growth opportunities," said Bernard Tay, Country Leader, Amazon.sg Seller Services and Head of Amazon Global Selling Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand. "As a Singaporean, I'm proud to be a part of this initiative. Small businesses are a part of Amazon's DNA, and the Amazon Singapore Seller Summit is a great avenue for current and potential retailers to gain more know-how, and share insights that will set them up for success. I look forward to having more local retailers join us for the event."

Business owners interested to hear from their peers on the selling experience with Amazon can look forward to a panel discussion featuring current retailers on Amazon, including The Soap Haven, KeaBabies, Rui Smiths, Megadi, and Brightdezigns. For a more hands-on guide to selling on Amazon, participants can join the workshop sessions, where Amazon will discuss product trends, dive deep into specific seller challenges and pain points and how to address them.

One of the sellers presenting, The Soap Haven, a Singapore company, specializing in natural skincare products started selling online with Amazon in 2013. With no prior business background, the husband and wife duo chose to sell on Amazon as it offered a large global footprint as well as logistics and inventory solutions that would enable them to grow their business and scale quickly to serve customers globally.

Jason Tay, Co-founder of The Soap Haven, says: "Selling on Amazon has allowed us to expand beyond Singapore and into countries such as United States and UK. When we first started selling on Amazon, we saw a 2000% increase in our business. Today, more than half of our sales comes from Amazon. The pandemic has significantly impacted many businesses worldwide and I am truly grateful to be able to run my business on my laptop from home."

To raise greater awareness on the support and services available to local SMBs, Amazon's first Singapore Seller Summit will be held in collaboration with key industry associations, including: Singapore Business Federation, Singapore Institute of Retail Studies, Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry, GS1, and Singapore Furniture Industries Council.

HKTDC’s Start-up Express Pitching Contest Showcases Innovative Solutions

Development programme creates opportunities in a volatile economy

HONG KONG, CHINA - Media OutReach - 10 June 2020 - Start-up Express, an entrepreneurship development programme organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), has returned for its third edition. The pitching contest under the programme successfully concluded today as a judging panel selected exceptional start-ups to participate in local and international activities to build connections, explore markets, seek partners and enhance brand awareness. In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, the Pitching Final was livestreamed online with a live polling of the "My Favourite Start-up Award", which was awarded to MICology.

Stephen Liang, Assistant Executive Director of HKTDC said: "Start-ups have been affected by the economic downturn like much of the world but the true essence of entrepreneurship is persistence in the face of adversity. There can always be opportunities found amid what otherwise appears to be a crisis. Traditional business and consumption models are seeing a new normal amid the COVID-19 pandemic, which can in turn increase receptiveness to new ideas. With outstanding achievements in innovation and technology, local start-ups launched products and services to fight against the pandemic. The HKTDC will continue to support local start-ups in exploring business opportunities amid the pandemic-struck economy, and to promote the city's capabilities in innovation and technology to overseas buyers."

Start-up Express offers global promotion, market exploration

The contestants propose innovative and disruptive solutions to transform business and social ecosystems through biotech, fintech, robotics, artificial intelligence, big data and the Internet of Things (IoT) and responded to questions raised by a distinguished judging panel and online audience. This year's juror line-up (listed below) witnessed the rise of new start-up success stories alongside online spectators:

  • Calvin Choi, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer, AMTD Group
  • Jason Chiu, Chairman, Hong Kong Startup Council
  • Cindy Chow, Executive Director, Alibaba Hong Kong Entrepreneurs Fund
  • Duncan Chiu, Co-Founder and Managing Director, Radiant Venture Capital
  • Herbert Chia, Venture Partner, Sequoia Capital China

This year's winners of the Pitching Final include: Arical, Arovia Hong Kong, BUG BROS BIOTECH, Gense Technologies, imBee, Inovo Robotics, Open Ocean Engineering, Return Helper, Shopkyo, SPES Tech and Wineworld Xplorer. (Click here for the list of wining start-ups and their profile)

The start-ups will be invited to exploratory sessions, power meet-up sessions with successful business leaders, business-matching sessions and local events organised by the HKTDC, including Start-up Zones at the Asian Financial Forum, spring and autumn editions of the HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics Fair and HKTDC Hong Kong International Medical and Healthcare Fair. The HKTDC will also bring the start-ups to the international stage by organising overseas missions and setting up Hong Kong Pavilions at international technology exhibitions -- including CES in Las Vegas and MWC Barcelona.

Double opportunities to build professional networks

AMTD Group is the strategic partner of Start-up Express for a second year. Calvin Choi, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer said: "I am impressed by the innovative ideas and practical solutions presented by our city's young entrepreneurs in this year's Start-up Express Pitching Final presentation. This recurring programme serves as a valuable platform for participants to showcase their unique business ideas and demonstrate the innovative power of the young generation in Hong Kong."

"The current business landscape is full of challenges, but for start-ups that are agile and versatile in responding to changing conditions and market needs, they can definitely identify and seize the best out of available emerging opportunities."

With the support of AMTD Group, the SpiderNet Award has been established to recognise the top performer selected by AMTD in the Pitching Final. The award aims to provide the winner with a unique and rare opportunity to access the resources and network of the AMTD SpiderNet eco-system. The winner will benefit greatly for its future development, and will also offer synergetic value to other entrepreneurs within the eco-system. imBee won the inaugural prize.

Jason Chiu, Chairman, Hong Kong Startup Council, said: "In every entrepreneurial journey, there are bound to be challenging times and the strength of a true entrepreneur is the ability to fight through the hard times and learn from each setback. This year has been especially trying due to the health situation that has impacted businesses globally but these start-ups have shown the resilience to fight through the adversity and succeed."

Mr Chiu added: "It has been great to see how this batch of start-ups have navigated the past few months to present themselves in a shining light, ready to embrace new opportunities on the international market through Start-up Express' unique support system. The programme helps entrepreneurs build connections and seek opportunities with potential investors and partners. I look forward to the winning start-ups joining HKStartupSociety and realise their dreams of not only excelling in Hong Kong but on the international stage."

Helping Hong Kong start-ups expand markets and networks

A key driver for Start-up Express participants has been the opportunity to enhance brand and media awareness, while also connecting with mentors, partners and investors through HKTDC-organised local and overseas events. This has provided start-ups with the chance to learn from experts and strengthen their core business.

Start-Up Express past winners benefitting from new opportunities include Miscato Limited, which developed and patented smart aromatherapy solutions, and Quikec International Limited, which developed a one-stop cloud-based supply chain management solution.

Michelle Fno, Founder & CEO of Miscato Limited, said: "HKTDC's strong network has helped us land interview opportunities with local and overseas media outlets, which in turn allowed me to share how my company developed our new series of antiviral smart aromatherapy products. Thanks to this increased exposure and HKTDC's support, we've since been able to capture new business opportunities and expand our clientele."

Peter Li, President and Co-founder of Quikec International Limited said: "Start-up Express has provided us an opportunity to participate in different exhibition and international exchange events. This has helped us expand our client base and find excellent partners despite operating on a tight budget. For example, meeting with Duncan Chiu, a well-known investor, offered many valuable lessons for us as he offered suggestions on business-development strategy."

HKTDC throws full support behind local start-ups

The HKTDC will continue to fully support the city's entrepreneurial ecosystem to maintain Hong Kong's status as a competitive business city and hub for innovation. To support enterprises, the HKTDC has launched the "HKTDC Transformation Sandbox (T-box)", offering free support on branding, e-commerce, manufacturing relocation and new market development. A "Voice of Start-ups" series has been launched on the HKTDC online platform to promote the success stories of local start-ups and to show how their creativity and versatility help them thrive and capture local and overseas business opportunities.

In addition to organising Start-up Express, HKTDC will support start-ups by hosting the annual Entrepreneur Day in July. The Council will also set up dedicated start-up zones at its world-class trade fairs in Hong Kong to help local start-ups reach out to overseas buyers and suppliers for potential partnership opportunities.
