Riaz Shahid Films join hands to revive Pakistan’s Cinema Industry

LAHORE: ARY Films and Riaz Shahid Films have joined hands to revive the cinema industry in Pakistan. At the signing ceremony Dr. Hasan Waqas Rana, Noor ul Hasan, Mr. Salman Iqbal (President & Founder ARY Digital Network), Mr. Mohammad Jerjees Seja (CEO, ARY Digital Network) and Shaan Shahid are seen along with other members.

According to the report, ARY Films and Riaz Shahid Films have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for a joint production venture aimed at reviving Pakistan’s film industry. The agreement was signed on November 23.

Under the MoU, Riaz Shahid Films will produce four quality films a year starting next year, so that cinemas have a steady supply of local content. ARY Films will be responsible for giving the films the widest possible release across the country.

Two films were announced at the signing: Arth 2 and Mission-5. Arth 2, a remake of Mahesh Bhatt’s well-known film Arth, will star Shaan Shahid and Humaima Malick, with newcomer Uzma Hassan and actor Ali Khan also in key roles. Its launch event is set for next month, and Mahesh Bhatt is expected to attend.

ARY Digital Network CEO Jarjees Seja said the recent success of Waar, Zinda Bhaag and Main Hoon Shahid Afridi showed that audiences are hungry for Pakistani cinema. He added that the market is “ready to reward and support all good efforts.”
