Two policemen arrested for death of 50 goats in Gujrat
GUJRAT: Gujrat police on Thursday arrested two policemen involved in an incident that was resulted in death of 50 cattle heads.
Chief Minister of Punjab had taken notice of the incident about the death of 50 goats in Gujrat and ordered action against the responsible policemen.
Police has registered case against five policemen including a police post in-charge who were involved in the incident that caused death of the animals of a cattle market during the Eidul Azha season.
District Police Officer (DPO) Gujrat Rai Zameerul Haq has told the media that two cops nominated in the FIR have been arrested and police was conducting raids for arrest of three other accused.
The in-charge of a police post with other policemen detained cattle traders when they refused to give their goats on cheaper price to him.
The policemen also released cattles from the market and pushed them towards railway track. More than 50 goats of these animals were crushed to death under the wheels of a train running from Rawalpindi to Lahore. Thirty goats were injured in the incident.
The cattle traders protested against the incident.
I.G. Punjab Police ordered the police to submit its report. The DPO has assured the traders to pay back them of their losses from the salaries of the policemen responsible for the incident.
