ISLAMABAD: The Ambassador of Saudi Arabia Mr. Abdullah M. al-Zahrani, visited and held meeting with Chairman Senate Mr. Raza Rabbani in his Chamber on Friday.
In about 40 minutes meeting Chairman Senate welcomed to the Ambassador and highlighted deep rooted historical, cultural religious and strategic ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. The Chairman expressed deep sense of grief over tragic incident at Mina during Hajj specially about the Pakistani pilgrims who died or wounded and missing.
Chairman Senate expressed his faith and confidence that Saudi government would attend the issues of Pakistan pilgrims in Minna stampede on a priority basis. It may be reminded here that Chairman Senate has already written letters to the Federal Minister Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf and Special Advisor to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Mr. Sartaj Aziz to brief the upper house about the Minnah incident and resultant issues of Pakistani pilgrims in Senate Session commencing on 5th October, 2015.
Chairman Senate said that exchange visits of parliamentarians from both the countries should be regular feature and in this regard Chairman Senate extended invitation to the head of Saudi Arabia Shoora to visit as special guest to the Senate of Pakistan. He further proposed that the visit may be scheduled during the days when Senate of Pakistan is in session.
