LAHORE: The Lahore Police reported arrests in a series of cases across the city, ranging from street crime and narcotics to homicide, according to statements issued by the police spokesperson.
On the special directives of the DIG Operations Lahore, the Dolphin Squad has been placed on high alert. The squad arrested a suspect described as the mastermind behind a “century” of 100 offences. SP Dolphin Bilal Ahmad directed teams to bring further speed to actions against criminal elements.
Faisal Town police traced and arrested a suspect who had committed an indecent act against a woman health inspector before fleeing the scene. The suspect was handed over to the Gender Cell for further investigation.
Gujjarpura police arrested a man accused of committing indecent acts against a young woman after luring her with a promise of marriage, and registered a case. According to police, the suspect had befriended the complainant through an online application some years earlier and came to her house on the pretext of a meeting.
Shadbagh police foiled an alleged abduction attempt and arrested four suspects. Acting immediately on a call to 15, police recovered the woman safely and arrested all four suspects travelling in a vehicle. A case has been registered against them on the woman’s application.
In Samanabad, a young man died during a scuffle and altercation. Responding to a 15 call, Samanabad police arrested the suspect within two hours, using camera footage and local information to reach him. A case has been registered.
Shalimar police arrested nine suspects for selling gutka, recovering a large quantity of gutka sachets and raw material from their possession. Cases have been registered.
Mustafabad police arrested two drug dealers and recovered 459 bottles of liquor of various brands. Acting on secret information, police apprehended the suspects while they were supplying narcotics. Cases have been registered against them.
Barki police arrested a man accused of killing an animal with an axe. The suspect is alleged to have struck the animal on its hind legs and back. A case was registered on a citizen’s application and investigation begun. The axe used in the incident was recovered and evidence preserved, while the suspect was handed over to the Investigation Wing for further legal proceedings.
A 40-year-old man was killed in a firing incident in Ghaziabad that followed a minor quarrel between children. Ghaziabad police acted immediately and arrested two suspects, including the main accused. Police and forensic teams collected evidence from the scene, and the body was shifted to the mortuary for post-mortem. A case has been registered.
Several of these cases share a common feature — the speed of response following a 15 emergency call, and the use of camera footage and local human intelligence to identify suspects within hours. Both the Samanabad and Shadbagh cases turned on that response window. The Faisal Town case, referred onward to the Gender Cell, reflects the specialised handling route now applied to complaints involving harassment of women.
