UMERKOT: Shaan Tech distributed solar lantern and solar cell phone charger among position holder students at Govt. Higher Secondary School Umerkot and Govt Girls High School Umerkot for their encouragement, appreciation and to control drop out of such students, and address their study problems during load-shedding here on Wednesday.
Brilliant students of Govt. Higher Secondary School Umerkot received the solar LED lanterns and cell phone chargers, include Parmanand, Lalchand and Usva Shah of class sixth, Haresh, Bharat and Sana of class VIIth, Nanoomal, Bhavesh and Narmeen Mahak, Zahid Saleem of class 8th , Jai Parkash, Madan Lal and Ramsha of class ninth, Riaz Ali, Rano Mal were provided solar powered LED lights as a reward for securing top positions in their respective classes of Govt. Higher Secondary School Umerkot and Govt. Girls High School Umerkot .
Speaking on the occasion, Shahid Siddique (Plant Manager) said that his firm had earlier started “PEHLI KIRAN” initiative to bring a “First ray of light” to the rural and less privileged communities of Pakistan, under the direction and vision of Pervaiz Lodhie, founder and president of the California Based LED lighting manufacturing company for generating employment opportunities in Pakistan.
He added that since 2003 this philanthropic initiative has been contributing to achieve goal for creating opportunities for socio economic development of Pakistan.
The program has been building momentum and successful results since its beginning; the key element was the distribution and maintenance of solar LED lighting system through the guidance and management of LEDtronics and its affiliate company Shaan Technologies.
Abdul Aziz Kunbhar Quality Manager hailing from Umerkot in his speech said that today September 3, 2013, scope of Pehli kiran has been extended to schools in deprived areas of Pakistan for which its first target district has been selected as Umerkot. As most of the students in Govt schools belong to less privileged families and hardly lead their life and it’s not affordable for them to continue their study in private schools.

Engineer Shoib Ahmed said that energy is a very important and an alarming issue in Pakistan, and by locally producing photovoltaic solar panels, ShaanTech is contributing positively to solve Pakistan’s energy needs.
